Sign up for My July Watercolor Workshop

Series of small retablosI’m here to post the dates and time of my next workshop at The Dalles Art Center for those of you who want to attend.  It’s going to be a fun one.  With our watercolors we are going to do some “Retablo Art”.  Retablos are better known in Mexico as Laminas and there they are small paintings to venerate saints.  Do you have saints in your life you’d like to honor by painting?  Each day I appreciate more and more my own personal saints who have helped me through bad and good times.  No, I’m not going to convert you all to the Catholic Church…It’s just a great exercise in paint and emotion.  Don’t worry.  I’m there to help with ideas, painting and anything else.  I have lots of examples of retablos and laminas.   I’m always excited to share what I know about the culture of Mexico so bring your bright colors and a list of some personal heros or saints and we’ll go from there!  You can get the list of supplies and sign up for the class at The Dalles Art Center.  The class will be held at the art center on July 25th and 26th.  The cost is $40.00 per day.  We start at 11:00 am and go until 4:00 pm.  Please sign up early so that I can have an idea of how many students there will be.  In the past this has been one of my most successful topics for painting!!!  The finished pieces also make great gifts.  I will not ask you to be as realistic or detailed as the piece below.  I’ll make it easy and fun.  SIGN UP NOW.

I’m definitely interested, but I can’t figure out whether there is ONE workshop meeting for two days (cost $80) or TWO workshops, one meeting each day (@ $40/day). The person answering the phone at the Art Center did not seem to know — like me, she interpreted the $40/day information to suggest that there are TWO workshops, but she said that, for the folks already signed up, there was no indication of for which day(s) they were signed up. I’d prefer one day (Saturday), but will sign up for both if that’s what’s expected and/or if you indicate that the project really can’t be completed in one day . . .
